Let's Stop Ozone Abuse

Bloggers Unite

Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and halons, are also ‘ozone depleting substances’. These substances break down and thin the ozone layer. Since the ozone layer absorbs a lot of the sun’s UV radiation, thinning of the ozone layer means that more UV radiation can reach the earth, which leads to a higher incidence of skin cancer.
The greenhouse effect and ozone depletion are global issues, but there are lots of
things we can do to help solve these problems at the source.

  1. Choose a less polluting car.

  2. Try to avoid car for short distance, take a walk instead.

  3. Use your home appliances wisely. Wash in cold water and wash when machine is full.

  4. Switch off your TV , VCR when its not in use.

  5. Refrigerators and Air conditioning systems use the ozone depleting refrigerants chlorofluorocarbons(CFCs). Don't often open the refrigerator.

  6. Fix leaking hot water taps to save on greenhouse gases.
